How to Collect Your Favorite Shapes for Easy Access in MS Office Visio

Collect Your Favorite Shapes for Easy Access
Do you frequently use the same shapes from several different stencils when creating diagrams? Instead of opening several stencils each time you start a new diagram, just save your frequently used shapes to the Favorites stencil for easy access from one location. To save a shape to the Favorites stencil, right-click the shape in its existing stencil, point to Add to My Shapes, and then click Favorites.
Notice that, from the Add to My Shapes options, you can also create your own custom stencils and add favorite shapes to those. (After you create a custom stencil, it will appear under the Add to My Shapes options as well.) To access the Favorites stencil or your custom stencils, on the File menu, point to Shapes, and then point to My Shapes.

Question:-How to Use Shape Operations to Customize Shapes in MS Office Visio?
Answer:-
Use Shape Operations to Customize Shapes in MS Office Visio

You can split a shape into multiple shapes, cut pieces out of a shape, or merge multiple shapes into one. To customize shapes, first select the shapes on which you want to act. On the Shapes menu, point to Operations, and then click the operation you want from the available options. For example, to draw horizontal lines completely through a triangle, select the triangle and all lines, and then click Fragment on the Operations menu to create a custom pyramid diagram in no time. In this example, the fragment operation uses the lines to split the triangle and does not retain the lines.

How to generate a pivot diagram from excel data

Question:-How I can Generate a Pivot Diagram from Excel Data?
Answer:- Generate a Pivot Diagram from Excel Data
In Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007, you can now generate a PivotDiagram from data such as a Microsoft Office Excel worksheet. A PivotDiagram has very similar functionality to an Excel PivotTable, but it displays your data graphically.

To generate a Visio 2007 PivotDiagram, on the File menu, point to New, then point to Business, and then click PivotDiagram. Follow the wizard steps to select your data and generate your PivotDiagram page.

If your source data is in an Excel 2007 table, you can generate the page even more quickly from Excel. To do this, click in the Excel 2007 table and then, on the Table Tools Format tab, click Export, and then click Export Table to Visio PivotDiagram. After the diagram page is set up, click in the PivotDiagram pane to add categories or values to your diagram, and Visio automatically generates the shapes with applicable data.

How to Apply Consistent Colors and Effects in MS Office Visio

Apply Consistent Colors and Effects Automatically Throughout Your Diagram in MS Office Visio

Use the new themes features in Microsoft Office Visio 2007 to quickly apply a consistent set of colors or effects throughout your diagram. Themes in Visio 2007 are separate from the document themes you may know from 2007 Microsoft Office system programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

To use themes in Visio 2007, on the Format menu, click Themes. In the Theme-Colors task pane, click to apply a set of existing theme colors to your diagram, or click New Theme Colors (at the bottom of the task pane) to customize your own color set. Note that clicking the arrow that appears when you point to a color set shows you additional options.

To apply additional formatting, click Theme Effects to switch to the Theme-Effects task pane. You can then click to apply an existing set of effects (including text, line, fill, shadow, and connector formatting). You can also click New Theme Effects at the bottom of the task pane to create your own effects. Also, clicking the arrow that appears when you point to an existing theme effects set shows you additional options, including the option to duplicate a built-in set of theme effects so that you can customize it.
